Ole Miss School of Education back in Birmingham!

The picture associated with this post is from Kelly Ingram Park, a major site for civil rights action in Birmingham.  It depicts a common scene of aggressive action taken against peaceful protest.

For the second year in a row the Ole Miss School of Education has taken its senior education majors and willing graduate students for a great hands-on learning experience in Birmingham, AL.  The trip includes the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Kelly Ingram Park, the 16th Street Baptist Church and and overnight stay at the McWane Science Center.  The goal for this years trip is for my students to develop a book of lesson ideas based off of their experiences in Alabama and then to add to those ideas each year we come back. I already have ideas about mathematizing inequity from statistics found at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.  Follow #rebelroadtrip for live tweets from the trip.
