Talking Math in San Diego, CA

Had a great experience giving my presentation “Striving to Teach Mathematics for Social Justice: A Learning Experience” at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Annual Meeting in San Diego.  My previous experiences presenting have been to relatively small rooms.  Imagine my surprise when I walk into a room set up for hundreds!  I enjoyed sharing my experience attempting to teach mathematics for social justice in a high school classroom and received helpful questions and feedback.  A key question I received was about resources or research about teaching mathematics for social justice within a rural context.  This question is the same one that has led me to engage in my dissertation study to start in the fall.
