Amidon Planet Podcast E023: Teaching Atomic Habits with Hunter Taylor

Published by Adminidon on

Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.

James Clear, Author of Atomic Habits

The quote above captures the thesis of James Clear’s book, Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones. To adopt specific habits means taking on specific identities that align with those habits. For example, writing everyday is the habit of a writer and running everyday is the habit of a runner.

For a teacher wanting to promote productive habits in the classroom how can we use the the Four Laws of Behavior Change from within Clear’s book to help students to shape what they do to become the person they want to be. In the latest episode of the Amidon Planet Podcast, I talk with Dr. Hunter Taylor, from the University of Mississippi, about Atomic Habits and how we can apply what we learned from the book to our teaching.
