Amidon Planet Podcast E018: The Dreamkeepers with Gloria Ladson-Billings

It can never hurt to ask.

When the first birthday of the Amidon Planet Podcast was approaching I knew that I wanted to ask Gloria Ladson-Billings (President of the National Academy of Education and Professor Emeritus from the University of Wisconsin-Madison) to be a guest. She has influenced my teaching, she has influenced my research, she has influenced why I do a lot of things I do in my role as a teacher of teachers at the University of Mississippi. I also wanted to talk about her classic book, The Dreamkeepers, because even though it was released in 1994 ,and rereleased in 2009, it is still very relevant as a way to consider and improve one’s teaching…which is the point of this podcast. So I wanted to highlight the book, especially for those who have never read it. Now, I also know that she is EXTREMELY busy…even in retirement, but it never hurts to ask. I did and she agreed to come on, thus….Enjoy!
