How I am responding to COVID-19 through my teaching

How do we respond?

In episode 19 of the Amidon Planet Podcast, Tom Andres talks about how circumstances can determine your attitude…if you let it. The basic message, and one that we gleaned from the book Fish!, is we get to choose our attitude and how we respond to the circumstances we are put in. When he said those words I don’t believe Tom had any idea we were on the verge of a global pandemic, but the idea is still the same. We get to choose how we respond. We get to choose our attitude.

The purpose of this page is to share how I am responding to the COVID-19 global pandemic through my teaching. As I learn more I will post more.

Even though we need to be social distant it doesn’t mean we cannot learn together as a community.

Podcast Discussing Converting Courses to Exclusively Online

Here are the episodes of the Teaching Math Teaching Podcast where I discuss with co-hosts Eva Thanheiser and Dusty Jones what we have done to move all our teacher education courses to online instruction.

Explaining Movement to Online Modules

Here is a video I shared with my students in a previously face-to-face course focused on lesson design through field experience, that was now moving to be exclusively online.

Video I used to explain on-line modules for a previously face-to-face class.

Discussing Early Reactions with Classroom Teacher

While converting instruction to being exclusively online, I had a conversation with Claire Rearick, former student and third grade teacher. During the episode we talked about our current response to this crisis as people and as teachers, while considering what we learned from Tom and Episode 19 of the Amidon Planet Podcast.
