AERA and Hip-Hop Based Education

That talk alone was enough to validate my travels to this conference and it was my first session.  The speakers offered challenges to how HHBE was being defined and to how to shape the legacy of HHBE.  The discussant talked not about “culturally relevant pedagogy” but “cultural sustaining pedagogy”, which was an interesting distinction.  It was exciting to see the passion of the speakers (and the crowd) for the work they do.  I am eager to learn more and share what I learn with others.  So in that spirit I decided to share my notes on the conference with those that care to look.  Enjoy!
